Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the Company) announced System Failure due to Unauthorized Access to Our Network on its website on October 8, 2024. Subsequently, it was discovered that our servers had been damaged by a third-party ransomware attack, and resulted in the leakage of personal information and confidential internal information held by the Company and its affiliated companies.
We deeply apologize for the concern and inconvenience this may cause to our customers and other concerned parties.

Team Casio

Casio now admits that it was the victim of a malware attack earlier this month and warns that it also took sensitive personal information from consumers, job hopefuls, and staff members. When Casio issued a warning on Monday about system delay and service failures caused by unauthorised access to its networks over the weekend, the attack became public.

The cybercriminals claim that they have obtained confidential data, projects, NDAs, financial records, staff personal and payroll information, and legal documents.

The attack has been linked to the ransomware organisation Underground, which has been active since at least July 2023. They claim to have seized over 200 GB of files from Casio systems.

Shutting Down Of Services: System Delay

According to the Casio Security Team, which is looking into the incident, a system failure happened on some of our servers on October 5 that left multiple machines useless. They verified that there were indications of unwanted access on the servers. As a result, certain crucial systems within the Company and its connected businesses are no longer operational, and certain services are also impacted.

Data Leakage

The Casio Team Said that following consideration of data may have leaked

  • Personal data belonging to our staff members, including contract and temporary workers
  • a portion of the workers’ personal information from related companies
  • Personal data of the Company’s and certain of its associated firms’ business partners
  • personal data about specific people who have previously appeared for interviews regarding jobs with us.
  • Details about a few clients who utilise the services offered by the business and a few of its associated businesses
  • Information related to contracts, invoices, sales, etc. with current and past business partners of the Company and certain of its affiliated companies.
  • Internal documents containing legal, financial, human resources planning, audit, sales and technical information of the Company and its affiliated companies
